Jerry Cabrera was born in Laredo, Texas in 1977. Cabrera received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Texas State University in 2001, and his Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2004. Exhibitions featuring his work include the 9th Annual Young Latino Artists Exhibition in Austin, TX and his solo exhibitions include Haven, at the Joan Grona Gallery, and Cape at The Museum Alameda Smithsonian. His work is included in the Neiman-Marcus Collections in ten cities and nine states and the AT&T Center Collection, San Antonio, TX. Cabrera currently teaches drawing and painting at The University of Texas at San Antonio and is also a professor at the Art Institute of San Antonio. He has received grants from the National Association for Latino arts and Culture and The Texas Cultural Collaborative and is represented by Craighead Green Gallery in Dallas, TX and The Joan Grona Gallery in San Antonio, TX. In 2011 Cabrera was nominated to receive the Joan Mitchell Foundation Artist Grant.
